Solo Leveling anime release date, trailer and latest news

Despite this, he continually puts himself risk in order to save his fellow adventurers and to acquire whatever loot he can to pay for his mother's hospital bills, kickstarting a "secret side quest" and setting the Solo Leveling story in motion.

After a long spell of speculation, we've finally got not just a month, but an actual day and date release date for Solo Leveling's first episode, alongside two brand new trailers - and even the reveal of its brilliant theme song.

With all of this to get you hyped, it's time to start getting very excited about Solo Leveling, as it's almost here for us to enjoy.

Here's everything we know about Solo Leveling season 1.

Will there be a Solo Leveling anime?

Yes! The manhwa Solo Leveling manga is finally getting an anime adaptation!

The anime will likely adapt the Japanese translation of the manhwa, which changes a few details of the story. Jinwoo is set to become Shun Mizushino and Tokyo is the new setting instead of Seoul.

A-1 Pictures, the animators behind classics such as Sword Art Online and Erased, will be producing the anime, with Shunsuke Nakashige as the director and Noboru Kimura as the head writer. Tomoko Sudo will be the head of character design.

However, one of the most exciting additions to the crew is composer Hiroyuki Sawano, the talent behind some of the best musical tracks in both Attack on Titan and Kill la Kill - we're going to get some epic guitar shredding and dramatic violins during the hunters' battles, no doubt.

When is Solo Leveling's release date?

Fans won't have long to wait before they see Jinwoo/Shun Mizushino become the greatest hunter alive.

Crunchyroll has confirmed that the first episode of Solo Leveling will officially be dropping on 6th January 2024, which is basically a late Christmas present from A-1 Pictures.

We've actually had a recent update over on AnimeTV's Twitter on 27th October 2023, teasing that we should expect an exciting new announcement about Solo Leveling on 1st November 2023, which turned to be a very special early screening of the first two episodes, alongside the reveal of its marvelous theme song co-performed by Sawano Hiroyuki and Kpop group TOMORROW X TOGETHER.

Does Solo Leveling have an ending?

Yes it does!

Since the anime is originally based on a web novel, which was then turned into a webtoon which premiered on 4th March 2018, there have been 14 volumes of the webtoon, which newcomers to the series can dive into to get immersed before the anime premieres in January 2024.

Since there's 14 volumes, if the first season of Solo Leveling is a hit, it seems likely that we could get a second and perhaps even a third season of the gaming-based anime. Fingers crossed!

Is there a Solo Leveling trailer?

What's a fresh anime without a flashy new trailer?

The first Solo Leveling trailer, seen above, dropped in July 2022, and another teaser was released in March 2023.

Since then, we've gotten not one, but in fact two brand new trailers to tide us over until January 2024.

The most recent trailer gives us the best glimpse into Hunter Sung's ultimate beatdown and demise, only to be gifted with a Second Awakening, primed and ready with all of the knowledge he gained from his initial failure.

Whether he'll be able to transcend the label of "weakest hunter of all mankind" is another story, though.

Who is playing who in Solo Leveling?

While the international cast hasn't yet been confirmed, we can confirm the Japanese cast is as below:

  • Taito Ben as Sung Jinwoo/Shun Mizushino
  • Reina Ueda as Cha Hae-In/Shizuku Kosaka
  • Hiroki Touchi as Baek Yoonho/Kenta Morohishi
  • Daisuke Hirakawa as Choi Jong-In/Shin Mogami
