Soaking wet and covered in mud, Pittsburgh Steelers inside linebacker Elandon Roberts stood inside the visitor’s locker room at M&T Bank Stadium on Saturday following a 17-10 victory over the Baltimore Ravens.
His left arm was tethered to his chest to avoid further aggravation of a pectoral injury. But while he couldn’t lift his arm, his spirits were high after the Steelers extended their winning streak to three games to keep their postseason hopes alive. They had done their part. Now they would need to wait for some help.
“What gives you confidence you guys can be a tough out if …” a reporter started.
“Man, don’t say if,” Roberts said, interrupting. “We don’t speak that.”
“Okay, when you get in the playoffs …” the reporter corrected.
“There you go,” Roberts said with a smile.
As it turned out, the faith that Roberts showed came to fruition. On Sunday afternoon, the Jacksonville Jaguars lost to the Tennessee Titans 28-20. In doing so, the Jaguars were eliminated, and the Steelers secured a spot in the playoffs. After Sunday night’s game between the Buffalo Bills and Miami Dolphins, the Steelers will know exactly where and when they’ll begin the postseason.
