Elden Ring has now been out for almost two years and fans are waiting for the game’s first DLC, Shadow of the Erdtree, to get an official release date soon. The Soulslike title is now close to two years old and fans continue to play and replay the title and continue to discover several details about the game.
From ways of beating the bosses in the game to ways to upgrade weapons, there are several guides compiled by those who have replayed the game, made for those who’d like to try Elden Ring for the first time. Apart from these, there are also several things about the game that not many have discovered yet.
The Glowing Crowns that unlock towers
The Erudition gesture in Elden Ring makes the player’s crown glow. As nice as the glowing crown looks, there is a specific use case for the gesture and the helmet glow in the game. If players head to the Converted Fringe Tower at Liurnia, they will find a subtle hint to solve a puzzle. A message at the foot of the statue inside reads: “May erudition light the way!“.
To clear this puzzle, players simply have to repeat the Erudition gesture and wait until the crown lights up. This works only when wearing five specific Glintstone Crowns, the Karolos, Lazuli, Olivinus, Twinsage, or the Witch’s Glintstone crown.
The glowing crown will open a pathway inside the tower. Players will find an enemy inside to be defeated, then find and climb a lift which will help the player acquire two useful spells, Cannon of Haima and Gavel of Haima.
To the southwest of the tower, players will find another Converted Tower. If players head there and perform the gesture in front of the statue inside the tower again, a spirit ladder appears behind the statue. Players can climb the ladder and fetch an item at the top of the tower.
Dealing with poisonous swamps and Scarlet Rot puddles
Rolling in poisonous swamps or Scarlet Rot Puddles in the game hurts players a lot more. They considerably slow down player’s movements for a while, players can try to run on dry land for a bit to wear the effect down. This usually takes a while or players can use restorative cures to get rid of the effect faster.
However, it’s a bad idea to roll in both of those as players will be covered in it and this will cause players to be covered in the puddle or swamp for longer, even when players are out of the swamps or the rot puddles. Players will see the damage meter continue to rise even when using a cure and will be forced to wait a long time for the effects to subside.
Using craftable soap items allows players to cleanse their clothes faster and is a cheaper option to heal from swamps or rot puddles.
Unlocking gateways and treasure through Imp Statues
Imp Statues are spread across the map in Elden Ring and are usually covered in a veil of mist so they are easily missed by many players. When found they can be used to unlock gateways, mini dungeons, optional boss fights, and even treasures.
To unlock them, players will need to spend either one or two Stonesword Keys. These keys can be found in dungeons, bought from merchants, or can be grabbed from dead bodies as well.
Cloaked assassins can be revealed using a Sentry’s torch
Cloaked assassins in Elden Ring can be annoying if found and repeated attempts at defeating them wouldn’t help much if they continue to remain cloaked or invisible. One way of countering them is using a Sentry’s Torch.
If held in hand while entering an area, any cloaked assassin would be revealed well before they get close to the players. Players must hold this torch in one hand while fighting the assassins to keep them in sight while fighting them off.
Swinging weapons to traverse between cliffs
Swinging weapons while standing on the edge of a cliff avoids falling off them and what could look rather funny is this strategy can be used to even walk on invisible bridges. Invisible bridges will have a few rocks placed in mid-air at a distance from each other.
Players will need to continue swinging their weapons to avoid the fall and they can continue to traverse mid-air and continue to walk from one mountain edge to another. It could either look like a bad glitch or look good when attempting the maneuver.
Using a Demigod’s Remembrance for multiple rewards
Killing a demigod in Elden Ring allows players to collect their Great Rune and also grants players a Remembrance. These are similar to Boss Souls from the Dark Souls franchise. A Remembrance can be exchanged for a reward. There’s a specific way of getting multiple rewards by using the same Remembrance.
Players will need to find a giant Walking Mausoleum, which appears as a giant walking building with four legs. A Walking Mausoleum will need to be brought down and players must enter one of these to duplicate a Remembrance and get multiple rewards.
Easiest way to bring down Chariots in Elden Ring
Margit’s Shackles and Mohg’s Shackles can be used to destroy Chariots, in a much easier way. Players can store up to 600 Margit’s Shackles but can only hold 1 at a time. These can be used to relocate rings that summon chariots.
When a new Chariot is summoned in between the path of the Chariots, they destroy each other. Destroying Chariots will reward players with Ash of War, and some armor, gauntlets, and greaves.
